Cosmic Church is a sincere religious organization founded upon the belief that spiritual growth, personal transformation, healing, self-discovery, and communion with the Divine may be pursued through prayer, contemplation, education, community, sacred ceremony, and the respectful use of entheogenic sacraments within a religious context.
Our mission is to provide a welcoming spiritual community where members may explore consciousness, personal growth, connection, and meaning while honoring personal responsibility, respect for others, and applicable law.
Cosmic Church understands its religious practices to be protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (“RFRA”), and applicable state constitutional and statutory religious freedom protections where recognized.
RFRA was enacted in 1993 to provide heightened protections for sincere religious exercise. Since its enactment, it has played an important role in safeguarding the rights of religious communities whose practices differ from mainstream traditions.
One of the most significant religious liberty decisions involving sacramental plant medicines was Gonzales v. O Centro Espírita Beneficente União do Vegetal (2006), in which the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of a church seeking to use ayahuasca as a sacrament. The Court held that the government had not met its burden under RFRA to prohibit the church’s sincere religious exercise.
In recent years, religious organizations utilizing entheogenic sacraments have increasingly been recognized within broader frameworks of religious liberty and constitutional protection. These developments reflect an evolving legal landscape regarding sincere religious practices involving sacramental plant medicines.
In 2022, Colorado voters approved Proposition 122, creating reforms related to natural medicines, including psilocybin. While such reforms do not create blanket immunity or universal legal protections, they demonstrate increasing recognition of the spiritual, therapeutic, and religious significance of certain entheogenic substances.

Membership in Cosmic Church does not create any ownership interest, governance right, entitlement, or expectation of continued access to Church resources, teachings, communications, ceremonies, educational materials, member forums, or membership privileges. All membership rights and privileges remain subject to the Church’s mission, policies, community standards, and continuing good standing requirements.
Membership may be suspended, restricted, or terminated in the reasonable discretion of Cosmic Church when a member’s conduct is determined to be inconsistent with the Church’s mission, sincerely held beliefs, religious practices, safety standards, community guidelines, or the spiritual well-being of the Church and its members. Members acknowledge that participation in a private religious association is voluntary and subject to ongoing compliance with Church standards and expectations.
